Specification of Precipitation Hardening Stainless Iron Steel

Stainless steel, also known as stainless steel, is a corrosion-resistant alloy of iron, chromium and, in some cases, nickel and other metals.

Completely and infinitely recyclable, stainless steel is the “green material” par excellence. In fact, in the construction sector, the actual recovery rate is close to 100%. Stainless steel is also environmentally neutral and its long life ensures it meets the needs of sustainable construction. In addition, it does not dissolve compounds that can change its composition when in contact with elements such as water.

Precipitation hardening (PH) stainless steels are a family of corrosion resistant alloys some of which can be heated to provide tensile strengths of 850MPa to 1700MPa and yield strengths of 520MPA to over 1500MPa - about three or four times that of austenitic stainless steels such as type 304 or type 316. They are used in the oil and gas industry as well as for aerospace where a combination of high strength, corrosion resistance and a generally low but acceptable level of toughness is required. Precipitation hardening is achieved by the addition of copper, molybdenum, aluminum and titanium either singly or in combination.

Compared to other materials, stainless steel has strong mechanical properties at ambient temperatures – after all, this is steel! In particular, it combines ductility, elasticity and hardness, enabling it to be used in difficult metal forming modes while offering resistance to heavy wear due to friction, abrasion, impact, elasticity, etc. In addition, it offers good mechanical behavior at both low and high temperatures.

For the stainless steel series, namely:

  • Austenitic Stainless Steel : SS 200, SS 301, SS 303, SS 304L, SS 309, SS 316, SS 316L, SS 316Ti, SS 321, SS 904L
  • Martensitic Stainless Steel : SS 416, SS 420, SS 431, CrMoV
  • Ferritic Stainless Steel : SS 1.4003, SS 409, SS 430F, SS 434, SS 441
  • Duplex Stainless Steel : SUPER, LEAN
  • Precipitation Hardening : 15-5 PH, AERO
