Specification of Red Brick Module M – 5a SNI
Brick is a building material with a type of beam used to build walls, sidewalks, and other elements in masonry construction. The term brick itself refers to a block consisting of dry clay which is why it is earth red, but is now also used informally to refer to other chemically preserved construction block materials. Bricks can be joined using cement, adhesive or by locking each other. Bricks are produced in a variety of types, materials, grades, and sizes that vary by region and time period, and are produced in large quantities.
Block is a similar term used to refer to a rectangular building unit consisting of bricks, or other materials. Lightweight bricks (also called lightweight blocks) are made from clay aggregates treated with a specific process called LECA.
In masonry, the bricks are laid in paths and many specific patterns known as ties, then between the bricks can be laid different types of cement to hold the bricks together to create a durable wall structure.
